What count are you in?

It’s o’dark thirty when I leave for work. I need to be in the right mind space if I’m going to be one of the first individuals someone will meet in the morning before a procedure. Listening to an XM Satellite gospel station on the way to work helps to get in line with God.

“Thank God” is a collaboration with Kirk Franklin, T.I., and Young Dro, which is hip and upbeat, putting you on the right track. Which it did for me, and I usually have some type of music I’m humming while going about my day. There’s a line T.I. says “whoever counted me out, didn’t count right”. I think I may have lost my mind because I’m shouting HALLELUJAH at 6:03 am! Thank you T.I.! Again, whoever counted me out, didn’t count right!

So, what count are you in? Were you in the number that did not reach that goal? Were in the count that kept pressing forward to succeed?

You may be able to recall the number of times you felt counted out. Those moments may replay over and over in your mind like the movie Groundhog Day and the only thing you can do is try to figure out a different outcome. You may also have the feeling that you’re always overlooked and pushed to the side, which you have been counted out. Then, there’s like a burning sensation in your throat, eyes and you’re gritting or grinding your teeth. Wait, you are fighting back tears of either sadness or anger, possibly both. How dare someone count me out before even given the chance to succeed!

I don’t mind being included a count if attendance is needed or required. I don’t mind being counted in a vote. I don’t mind being counted if there’s a need to pick teams for a game. I don’t mind if someone asks me if they could count of me for a donation. But to have the audacity to take it upon yourself to count me count, you did not count right! That just lights a fire inside to prove you wrong and prove myself right!

God included me in His count! Just a few promises that tells me I’m His and I can always count on Him.

Deuteronomy 28; 13 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you shall only go up and not down, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, being careful to do them.

Philippians 4; 13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

Psalms 29; 11 The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.

Joshua 1;9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed; for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

If you think I go away quietly, you are so sadly mistaken, especially since I’ve been counted out so many times and I’m so glad that whoever did, didn’t count right! It was just the right of ‘shade’ I needed. Just makes you stronger and more determined! So, what count are you in?

Be Kept!
