Not the favorite
After a long day, you’re not in the mood to cook and then again, who is? What’s the quickest and easiest avenue? Take out! Don’t mind getting a variety of foods for everyone because it’s less hassle on the me, the cook. Everyone agrees on one item from the nearest restaurant. Shrimp Fried Rice will the main course for the entire household and there’s a peace around the kitchen table with satisfied tummies. Plates are empty, except for one. On that particular plate, there’s a pile of green peas off to the side, separated from the prepared dish of food. Nothing else was left, just the peas. It’s quite evident those peas are not the favorite.
As the morning starts, nothing like having the first cup of coffee. The aroma of begins to spread throughout the house, slowly waking up everyone in the house, only to realize, we all have to get out of bed. Timer on the tea kettle begins to boil the water at just the right temperature. Cups are prepared accordingly; cream and sugar for the coffee. The cup for tea has a slice of lemon, cinnamon stick and honey, as the tea bags seep just right for flavor. Someone complained of having congestion, so hot tea was prepared to help open the nasal passages. They failed to disclose, tea is not their favorite.
You’re quiet. You feel like a loner or deemed a loner by others. You don’t like to make too much noise, not a gossiper, and don’t seem to fit in. You have been told that you’re a hard worker and can be relied on when the need arises. You made an attempt to change to fit in only to overhear others talking about you, attacking your character with lies, and the realization of this whole mess, you are not the favorite.
We all have favorites. We all have dislikes. We all have pet-peeves. Some favorites grip us and some we have learned to live without. I may not be everyone’s favorite and everyone’s favorite may not be mine, I know that I am God’s favorite. I know that you’re God’s favorite. Each one of us are precious in His eyes and He loves each of us unconditionally. Though we mumble and complain from time to time, God always gives us a way out, helps us to look at a situation in another light and gives us peace. We will never be able to repay our God for the main blessings, just start saying ‘thank you’ for being my favorite. Other’s level of acceptability with their time and talents does not equate to our Lord and Savior. If being God’s favorite all the time is all that’s needed.
Psalm 84:11 (ESV): For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Numbers 6:25–26 (ESV): The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
Psalm 5:12 (ESV): For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield.
Be Kept!
