Be a Rose

About three years ago I wrote “Because You Are a Rose” after listening to Arethea Franklin’s, “A Rose is still a Rose”. To this day those words from that song continue to touch my soul. You will always hold the power!

When women feel, we will feel with entire being, inside and out. Now, those feelings can either be good or bad, I did not specify. I believe when we are all in - we are all in! It’s very true that we are emotional creatures and I love to keep my husband guessing, because most of the time I don’t know myself. However, when allow someone into our personal space, that person has proven something to us for that guard/wall to come down.

We fall in love with our whole heart. We express our feelings outwardly. We show vulnerability. We show strength. We show endurance. We show weakness. We show determination. We are creative. We are phenomenal. We are entrepreneurs. We are roses!

Did you know that roses are one of the oldest flowers in creation? It’s been noted as far back with ancient Romans. Also, the colors represent different meanings: Red - love & romance; Pink - grace & elegance; Yellow - friendship & cheer; White - purity, innocence & spirituality; orange - enthusiasm & energy (www.thesmellofroses.com)

The rose symbolizes love, beauty, royalty, sensuality, secrecy and mysticism. Their fragrance is a light floral scent. Not overbearing, just calming and inviting. The rose is simply elegant.

Arethea Franklin’s, ‘A Rose Is Still a Rose’ speaks to our strength! You hold the power!

‘Cause a rose is still a rose (still a rose)
Baby, girl, you’re still a flower (you’re still a flower)
He can’t lead you and then take you
Make you and then break you (break you)
Baby, girl, you hold the power

Take a look in the mirror and tell yourself you are a rose. Read Proverbs 31. Your beauty is a blessing from God! There’s NO ONE like you! We can be so busy with trying to pluck someone else’s rose petals without understanding what it took for them to nurture and bloom. Refrain from looking to find fault and find ways to help cultivate.
