Focus Ahead

I love being a “Passenger Princess” observing every single thing around me and keeping up with every detail I see. I love keeping tabs on what the driver is doing especially if it’s my husband. I love it when I can ignore so much commotion around me and stay focused on the task at hand. I love it when there’s something new to learn and understand, there’s a commitment to be the best. I love it when I’m determined there’s nothing that will stand in my way. I love it when a schedule or to-do list has been created and followed to the letter.

We know that life is like a wave tossing you back and forth. With each crashing wave, you are literally fighting to stay afloat while focusing ahead. The weight of water will overpower you and there’s little to you can do, other than to go with the flow. As we move through life, God wants us to fix our thoughts and eyes on Him and His word. The waves will make us feel distracted, just as Peter was distracted taking his eyes off Jesus who was walking on water and Peter began to sink. (Matthew 14; 22-33)

When we guard our thoughts, it helps us to stay focus. Our thoughts shape who we are. Our thoughts will guide our footsteps. The more we think on something, the more likely we are to act upon it. Our intention to focus ahead should be purposeful knowing with every distraction is set up to bring us down. The word teaches us that our thoughts are not His thoughts and our ways are not His ways. (Isaiah 55; 8-9). As I mentioned earlier, I love observing and taking in every detail only to realize that I need to be careful what I allow into my spirit.

Every conscious effort we make to focus ahead, our daily life improves. This walk should not be a detriment. We are going to battle because it’s worth the fight. Not everyone will agree or like what you’re doing, however, you’re not doing this for them. You are focusing ahead for YOU! Don’t be upset if you lose a few friends along the way, because change is scary and hard, so let them see you rise. I pray that you will have someone who can trust to help you stay focused, as you help them to stay focused.

Philippians 4;8 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things.”
