To Have and To Hold

The anticipation of waiting for my Prince Charming to come. Will he be everything that I dreamed of and sweep me off my feet?

To dream like Rapunzel as I let down my long hair. Only to let some joker use my hair to climb up a tower and save me! I can jump down and cut this hair to begin a new life something else. Or better yet, not look out a window? To have true love’s kiss to wake me from a deep sleep. Knowing that he will see me for the first time and fall deeply in love and we live happily ever after! The reality would be that this joker would ask me to split the bill for dinner or not even have the funds to pay for dinner!

I love fairytales and happy ever-afters! The Princess would always be saved, finding her true love and all is right with her world! She would wear the most beautiful dresses and shiny tiaras! Yes, to have a tiara and if the opportunity presented itself, I would wear a tiara on a daily basis. Yet, I digress. This of course, is a far cry from the real world.

Our Prince Charming may not come to save us on a horse with cape and sword. Ours may come with blue jeans, baseball cap and a hoodie. Ours may not be able to afford to spend thousands of dollars on weekly shopping sprees. Ours may just like to sit beside you on the couch, wearing sweatpants, eating snacks and watch the next corny show with you without hesitation. Ours may just be by your side during the most difficult time in your life while you’re at your weakest holding you up no questions asked. Ours just may rub our feet after a long day of standing and walking.

When God blesses you with that special someone, that bond will be anointed. See when God sets something aside just for you, it’s yours and no one or thing can undo it! That’s truth! The love of fairytales and ever-afters are precious, yet the love of God is magnificent! It’s forever and unbreakable! It’s to have and to hold!

Sometimes we like to jump before God tells us to jump. We also think to ourselves “this is definitely meant for me to act on” only to find out, there’s no peace. We also may find ourselves in relationships for all the wrong reasons, only to stay put in order to make others happy. Pray fervently. Pray without ceasing. Trust God.
